In this video, our Head of Agronomy, Christie Henn shares insights into the automatic DFM irrigation system operating on one of our SPVs.

DFM (Drip/Fertigation Management) systems combine precision irrigation with automated nutrient delivery, giving crops exactly what they need, when they need it.

- Water delivered directly to the root zone
- Nutrients applied through the irrigation system
- Improved water efficiency
- Reduced fertilizer waste
- Better crop performance & sustainability

Modern farming is all about working smarter, and DFM technology is helping drive the future of sustainable agriculture.

Today, on World Environment Day we are reminded that the protection and health of the environment influence's the well-being of people and economic development across the globe. The theme of World Environment Day 2026 focuses on climate change. This is of particular significance as according to The Global Risks Report 2026 | World Economic Forum environmental risks dominate the Global long term (10 years) risks — led by extreme weather events, biodiversity loss, and irreversible changes to Earth systems.

A significant challenge for risk analysts and managers is how to address hazards and threats that may lead to severe outcomes and considerable uncertainties. With the long-term risks identified, an opportunity is presented for individuals, businesses, and communities to deepen their understanding and take responsible action to protect our environment. Integral to realising this opportunity is the integration of environmental resilience into long-term strategy, accelerating climate adaptation planning, and expanding natural-capital considerations.

Center pivot irrigation systems are transforming modern farming by enabling precise water distribution, reducing waste, and improving crop consistency. When paired with high-value cash crops, the results can be significant: increased yields, optimized resource use, and stronger profitability.

Key benefits include:
• Improved water efficiency and uniform coverage
• Reduced labor and operational costs
• Enhanced crop quality and yield predictability • Scalability for large farming operations

As climate variability and resource constraints continue to challenge the agricultural sector, investing in smart irrigation technologies is a strategic move toward sustainable growth.

Cold weather plays a key role in regulating vine growth. A proper winter chill helps table grape vines reset, ensuring more uniform growth and better-quality fruit. Without enough cold, vines can produce uneven or weaker crops, impacting both appearance and taste.

Frost, however, must be carefully managed. While mild cold keeps vines dormant, extreme frost can damage the buds that will develop into next season’s grape bunches. Many growers use wind machines, irrigation, or other techniques to protect their crops.

The vineyard ecosystem also shifts during winter. With no leaves or fruit, some pests disappear, while others overwinter in the soil or bark. This makes winter the ideal time for growers to manage pests and diseases before the growing season begins.

Before olive oil turns that rich golden color, it goes through its most vibrant stage, the chlorophyll phase.

As the oil is exposed to light and air, natural processes like oxidation and chlorophyll breakdown slowly shift the color from green to a warm gold. People often just refer to it as the oil “aging” or “losing its chlorophyll.”

This stage is all about intensity, vibrant color, grassy aromas, and a fuller, more expressive flavor.

It’s the olive in its purest, most energetic form before it gradually mellows into softer golden tones.
