BUDDING - Where the Season Begins 🍇

Those tiny green buds you see?

They’re everything. Why budding matters:
- Sets the crop load — The number and health of buds decides how many bunches we’ll harvest months from now
- Quality starts here — Even bud break means even ripening later. That’s key for great wine and table grapes
- Timing is critical — This is when we watch frost, pests, and weather closest. Protect the bud, protect the season.

Our vineyard teams are out daily, checking every shoot.

One good bud today = a great harvest tomorrow.

Frost during late Winter & Spring
Common practices for frost management:

- Mulch & Cover crops - protects plants from frost damage by acting as an insulating layer for the soil.
- Frost fans – prevents frost damage by forcing warmer air from the inversion layer upward and mixing it with the cold air at ground level.
- Irrigation - irrigation helps reduce frost damage by releasing heat when water freezes, increasing the air temperature around plants, and preventing plant tissue from dropping below freezing.

Flooding on the Farm

Heavy rains have led to the river overflowing onto farm units. Fields, crops, irrigation infrastructure and access roads are affected.

To all farmers and farm workers dealing with this:
Your safety comes first. We stand with you during recovery and cleanup.💙

Repairs have been ongoing and will continue for the next couple of months.
