RAF EXTENDS CLAIMANT-CENTRED SERVICES TO MTHATHA ON 24 OCTOBER 2026

The Road Accident Fund (RAF) will bring its Extended Reach and Accessibility Programme to residents of Mthatha and surrounding local municipalities at the Mthatha Town Hall on Saturday, 24 October 2026. The visit advances Government’s commitment to take essential services closer to communities, particularly claimants who face financial and logistical barriers in accessing permanent RAF offices.

One of the ways in which the Department of Transport is working to strengthen road safety, is through the identification and treatment of hazardous locations and increased investment in pedestrian infrastructure and safe mobility.

Road Safety Tip:
✅ Cross at designated pedestrian crossings where possible.
✅ Make eye contact with drivers before crossing the road.
✅ Stay alert and avoid distractions such as mobile phones.
✅ Wear bright or reflective clothing when walking at night.

A day of learning, sharing, and empowerment.

The Road Accident Fund's Caregiver Training Session brought together caregivers and RAF claimants for meaningful discussions aimed at strengthening home-based care and support.

Facilitated through the combined efforts of the RAF Corporate Social Responsibility Department and the RAF Medical Department, participants engaged in informative sessions covering disability awareness, pain management, psychosocial support, and the important role caregivers play in the rehabilitation journey of claimants.

The programme reflects the RAF's commitment to ensuring that caregivers are equipped with the knowledge and confidence needed to provide compassionate and effective care, ultimately improving the wellbeing of those they support.

Empowering caregivers, strengthening recovery.

In support of Transport Awareness Month, the Road Accident Fund (RAF), through its Corporate Social Responsibility Department and in partnership with the RAF Medical Department, is hosting a Caregiver Training Session in Pretoria, Manhattan Hotel.

The programme equips caregivers with practical knowledge, essential caregiving skills, and ongoing support to improve the quality of care provided to RAF claimants at home. Together, we are promoting recovery, dignity, and wellbeing for those affected by road crashes.

The Road Accident Fund is bringing services closer to the people through its community outreach programme at Kagisanong Community Hall in Bloemfontein.

🤝 Joined by key stakeholders in the transport sector, the RAF hosted a stakeholder engagement session that included a walk-about of the community hall, showcasing the various service stations where claimants are receiving assistance.

The programme also featured the handover of assistive devices, reinforcing the RAF’s commitment to post-crash care and supporting the needs of those affected by road accidents.

Together, we remain committed to empowering communities, promoting access to services and ensuring that people know their rights.
