It was recently announced by SARS that certain new disclosure requirements have become mandatory for section 18A certificates to SARS.

This new IT3(d) certificates came into effect on 1 March 2023 and applies to all receipts issued on or after this date.

The following information needs to be disclosed on these receipts:

Donor nature of the person (individual, company, trust).

Donor identification type and country of issue (where an individual).

Identification or registration number of donor (if available).

Income tax reference number of donor (if available).

Contact number of the donor.

Email address of the donor.

Unique receipt number.

Trading name of donor (if different from registered name).

This above listed information is in addition to the current required information.

From the 2023/2024 tax year, these IT3(d) certificates will need to be submitted to SARS via a “third party information” portal.

This will enable the pre-population of donation information onto the income tax returns of the donors.

This task normally falls on the shoulders of the Treasurer of the PBO, but you are welcome to contact our office if you require us to assist by submitting this on your behalf.

The deadline for submission of these IT3(d) certificates is 31/5/2024.

Interesting Facts about the new two pot retirement system

We thought it might be of some relevance to highlight a few pointers on the new two pot retirement system,

Set to go live 1 September 2024.

This new system will allow you to access a small portion of your retirement savings before you retire.

The bulk of your retirement savings will however still remain preserved until you retire one day.

From 1 Sep 2024 your retirement contributions will be divided into two “pots”

A savings pot, where one third of contributions will be accessible before retirement; and
A retirement pot, where the remaining two thirds will remain safe for your retirement.

There will be a once off automatic allocation of 10% of your existing retirement savings (capped at R30 000),

Transferred to the savings pot as an opening value.

These new rules will only apply to new contributions as from 1 Sep 2024.

Retirement savings up to that date will be ringfenced as the “vested pot” with the existing rules in place.

Obviously should you decide to withdraw from your savings pot, you will pay tax at your marginal tax rate.

We strongly advise you to first seek the advice your financial planner, before you make any decisions in this regard.

Attention provisional taxpayers: The deadline to submit your 2024/02 provisional tax returns is approaching fast! You have until the end of February 2024 to file for the period 1/3/2023 - 29/2/2024.

Additionally, all companies with a February year-end must submit their 2023 annual tax returns by the end of February 2024. Make sure you don't miss these deadlines!

Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in both Afrikaans and English.

Computer Skills: Proficient in various computer applications, with a particular emphasis on Sage One Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping: Manage internal financial records with precision and accuracy.

Debtors Management: Efficiently handle debtor accounts to ensure timely collections.

Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management.

Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial documentation.
