Today, South Africa’s Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie is in Harare to present the Zimbabwe Bird and ancestral human remains to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

After 137 years, the last outstanding Zimbabwe Bird returns home. Sold for £80 to Rhodes by Posselt and kept as a trophy of conquest, the eighth bird — the Hungwe — was the first taken from Great Zimbabwe and the last to return. It follows the lower part of the seventh bird, repatriated from Germany after passing through N**i and Soviet hands.

The South African and Zimbabwean Governments reached an understanding enabling the return. Ancestral remains taken to Western museums by colonialists were repatriated alongside the bird.

In 1931, a man named Azzo Bassou was discovered in Morocco (🇲🇦). He lived in the Dades Valley near the town of Skoura. Local residents were aware of his presence and said he lived in a cave, consumed raw meat, and used only rudimentary tools.

He reportedly walked naked—he was placed in a bag solely for photographing him—and was described as having limited intellectual abilities. Bassou could pronounce a few words, though much of his speech was unclear.

He was noted for distinctive physical features, including a receding forehead, a protruding jaw, a large nose, and unusually long arms that nearly reached his knees. In 1956, French writer Jean Boulet, accompanied by ethnologist Marcel Gomet, traveled to the region to investigate and document the case.

Some scientists who examined him compared his skull to Neanderthal remains and noted similarities. Sensationalist tabloids quickly labeled him "the missing link," portraying him as the last living Neanderthal. However, after careful scientific study, researchers concluded that he most likely suffered from microcephaly.

This is THE LATE PRESIDENT OF UGANDA, Idi Amin ,He once wanted to change the name of Uganda to Idi. Everybody in his Cabinet agreed because they were afraid of him. But there was one man, Walyamungu. He said to Idi Amin, "Your excellency do you know a country called Cyprus?" Idi Amin said to him,"What does Cyprus have to do with the changing of Uganda to Idi?"
Walyamungu replied, the citizens of Cyprus are called Cypriots. If we change the name of Uganda to Idi, we, the Ugandans shall be called Idiots" and the world will call us idiots, which we are not.
Idi Amin looked at him and said "You and I are the most intelligent men in this cabinet. The name of the country shall remain Uganda and so it remained to this day.
His was a lone voice yet it was stopped the madness of the most powerful African aLeader Africa has ever produced. The silence of good people makes evil to prevail.

Robert Mugabe’s son, Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe, and his co-accused, Thobias Mugabe Matonhodze, have been charged with attempted murder, defeating the course of justice by hiding the gun used in the crime, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The attempted murder charge relates to the shooting of a gardener at the Mugabe residence in Johannesburg on Thursday. The gardener, who was severely injured, is in hospital receiving treatment for his wounds.

When South African police arrived at the scene, they could not find the gun, and it has not yet been recovered.

The case has been postponed to 3 March, where they can apply for bail. The State is opposed to bail. Chatunga is Robert Mugabe’s third and last born child with his second wife, Grace Mugabe.

Grace Mugabe cannot come to South Africa to support her son because of a warrant of arrest issued in 2017 after she allegedly assaulted South African model Gabriella Engels at a Johannesburg hotel.

The shooting, which happened at the Mugabe residence in Johannesburg’s upmarket, leafy suburb of Hyde Park, is the latest in a litany of cases involving Mugabe’s sons.
The Johannesburg house was bought for the Mugabe boys when their father was still in power in 2017 for R43 million, which was the equivalent of about US$3.2 million at the time.
