Let’s say you own a hardware supplies shop in Pretoria and a customer disputes a transaction. They claimed they hadn't authorised the payment. The bank reversed the charge and deducts it from your account, plus a R150 dispute processing fee.
You have the customer's signature. You have the till receipt. You submit everything. It could take three weeks of back-and-forth. And you’ll probably still lose the dispute.
Most merchants don’t know this is even a risk when they get the card machine, because nobody explains it to them.
With TappiPay QR payments, the customer authenticates the transaction on their own device — with their own fingerprint or PIN. The payment record is biometrically confirmed. The dispute exposure is fundamentally lower.
This isn't a hypothetical benefit. For SA merchants processing card payments, chargebacks are a real and ongoing cost.
Pre-sign up is open on the TappiPay website. Link in bio.
