Happy Thursday or Happy Fake-Friday is what we like to call it here at WeAreMonsters.

Ahhh the much fantisied 4 day work week. And YES, we subscribe to it. We find the benefits of a 4 day work week immense.

Recent studies validate this showing some of the benefits of the 4-day work week.

A study conducted by Stanford University (Link in BIO) revealed a clear negative correlation between the relationship of productivity and hours worked. Showing that overworking leads to decreased productivity.

A New Zealand based company, Pepetual Guardian, conducted a trial of the 4 day work week and showed overall increases in; Productivity, Job satisfaction, Teamwork, Work/life balance and Company loyalty.

There it is people, the Monsters have spoken - Thursdays are now Fake-Fridays.

If you have any questions about the 4 day week and how we manage it. Feel free to let us know in the comments! 🙌

Hobbies: Used to be big time into Bonsai (I still have a few with me I try keep them going). In recent times I have also found enjoyment in, and met a few good mates within the car scene. I also LOVE dinosaurs, anyone who has ever stepped into the office (pre-pandemic) would not need to be told this, based on the amount of dinosaur figurines I have on my desk.

Work Ethic: Be the person YOU needed while you were up and coming, whether that means sharing knowledge to boost another, or simply making yourself available to help the new guy… to summarise, “If you can help, do help.”

Quote: “You wanna go look at some cars you and I both know we can’t afford? I’m your guy!”

Thoughts on team work: "There are no problems, only solutions. I despise it when people keep pointing out the problem. F**k the problem, gravity is a problem yet you stand up every day. There are always ways to get though every problem. Stand up every day and conquer every problem set in your path"

Why 16th June is a public holiday?

On the morning of June 16th 1976, thousands of students marched through the streets of Soweto to peacefully protest against the Bantu Education schooling system - which forced black students to be taught in Afrikaans amongst other atrocities. Many of the students gathered with signs that read “Down with Afrikaans and Bantu Education”. The crowds grew to tens of thousands of students as they peacefully marched to the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

Students were then confronted by the police who tried to disperse the crowds using tear gas and rubber bullets. After failed attempts at dispersing the crowds of students - live rounds were shot into the crowds killing hundreds of students.

This sparked outrage across the world in what is now known as Youth Day.

We have seen protests and violence against those fighting for justice play out around the world in the past weeks. So today, on Youth Day, enjoy your public holiday; but remember those who have passed before us in the fight for what is right and think about those that continue to do so today.

Happy Youth Day!

Remote work has become the new norm for a lot of companies as of late, with the global pandemic having reached its 3rd month.

In a survey done by Buffer.com showed that 98% of a poll of over 3,500 people said they would like to include some form of remote work into their career.

With the primary benefits of remote work being the ability to have a flexible schedule and to be able to work from anywhere. The main downsides being that people often feel lonely and unable to collaborate affectively with their teams.

Here at WAM, we have been working 100% remotely since 16 March 2020. Although it has its challenges, there exists awesome ways to stay connected alongside online tools to remain collaboratively productive! We’ll be sure to share some of our very own LOCKDOWN TIPS for awesome remote work.

HAVE A GREAT MONDAY!
