FROM THE FARM TO THE GRID: TRUSTING THE JOURNEY β‘
My Roots & Beginnings
They say where you start doesnβt have to define where you finish. My name is Juan Dewald Kuhn, a former top-3 student from Jakes Gerwel Tegnies in Bonnievale. I grew up on a farm named Skyroo in the Boesmansrivier area. It was truly the profound peace and quiet of the farm environment that instilled within me a powerful sense of purpose and a relentless willingness to succeed. Resources werenβt always plentiful, and the path forward was rarely neatly paved, but I possessed two essential strengths that could never be limited: deep faith and a drive to put in the hard yards.
The Academic Path
Following high school, I was fortunate enough to begin my higher education journey at Boland College, Strand Campus. Reaching my N6 Electrical Engineering certificate was a road paved with significant challenges, long nights, and personal sacrifices. Yet, the journey does not end there; I am continuously pushing forward to complete my final academic steps.
The Anchor of Faith
In our family, we have always uplifted and encouraged each other with these profound words:
βGeloof is βn vaste vertroue in die dinge wat ons hoop maar nie kan sien nie.β
Tye wanneer dit moeilik gegaan het, was hierdie waarheid die anker waaraan ons vasgehou het.
Gratitude & Professional Steps
I did not walk this challenging road alone. To my parents, family, and friendsβyour constant motivation keeps my fire burning even when the grid gets heavy. Thank your for pushing me forward.
A special shoutout goes to Dewald from 418, who built a vital bridge across my path by introducing me to Motla Consulting Engineers. Today, I am incredibly proud to be doing my practical training with such a phenomenal team while finalizing my ultimate academic qualifications. This is a dream come true
A Message to Dreamers
To anyone out there fighting for their dreams from a quiet, remote corner of the world: keep pushing, keep believing, and put in those extra yards. The destination is always worth the drive. ππ
