As the contractor where possible, always supply the employer with a surity and not an "on demand guarantee". The guarantee puts you at risk. Where the surity protects you and the client.

Difference between a Guarantee and a Surety. A Surety covers both the contractor and employer. In the event of a claim the surety makes provision for a review of work done and the claim will be adjusted accordingly. On the other hand a guarantee does not make provision for an adjustment. The full amount must be paid on demand.
It is safer for a contractor to give a surety and not guarantee.
