We need your help:‍

AACS is in the process of engaging with the regulator and other relevant stakeholders in the debt counselling industry to scrutinize the prevailing consumer challenges. With more that 3000 debt counsellors deregistered, over a million consumers have been left with a permanent debt review flag on their credit records.

We need to collect a database of every consumer who is currently under debt review or listed as under debt review. The goal of the project is to collaborate with lawmakers and regulators to structure a dedicated resolution system for the removal of the debt review flag for unlawfully placed and abandoned consumers.

We need every consumer who is under debt review - even if you do not have issues - to complete the questionnaire to help us compile a report that will highlight the struggles and the plight of millions of consumers whose lives permanently put on hold because of fraudulent debt review flag or deregistered debt counsellors.

Currently the only way to remove the flag when the debt counsellor is no longer involved in debt counselling (deregistered) is to log a dispute with the NCR, however, most if not all consumers do not know the registration status of the debt counsellor who placed them under debt review because there is no system in place to notify the consumer when the debt counsellor status change.

The Nca states that the credit bureau information must be correct in all aspects, therefore when your credit report displays a debt review flag with the debt counsellor who is no longer in operation, this information is incorrect and is prejudicing the affected consumer. The debt review flag must be removed from your credit records.

Many consumers do not have access to the internet (or even email addresses) and cannot be reached, we rely on you to share this message with friends, colleagues, Labour Unions and HR officials to spread the word.

By registering for a Free Assessment below, you will be able to establish the status of the debt counsellor on record and also learn your options to remove the debt review flag from your credit records based on your individual circumstances.
