SARS SCAM ALERT | ‘TAX SETTLEMENT NOTIFICATION’

SARS has warned taxpayers and practitioners about fraudulent emails and SMS messages titled “Tax Settlement Notification” or “Final Demand,” requesting payment through suspicious links or fraudulent bank accounts.

Members are urged not to click on suspicious links or attachments and to verify their tax status directly via SARS eFiling. SARS will never request banking details via email or SMS.

VAT - DIESEL REBATE

With effect from 1 April 2026, qualifying diesel users operating on-land in the farming, forestry and mining sectors will be entitled to claim a refund on 100% of eligible diesel purchases and usage. This replaces the previous position where refunds were limited to 80% of eligible diesel use.
