Seasons come and go, embrace each one, including the messy middle ☀️🌺🥶🍁
I cannot believe how one year can make such a big difference.
My boy is so grown up at 14. But I was even more shocked when I compared a photo taken at his 13th birthday to July this year on his 14th birthday!!! Where did my little boy go!!!! What happened!!!
Made me realise that time goes by so quickly and I only get to create memories and enjoy the time with him, the good, the bad, the ugly (teenage season 14 going on 40🤣🤣🤣) and no matter how hard some seasons are and no matter what we are juggling with or struggling with, the reality is - life is passing us by ever so quickly, and it feels like more so now than ever before.
We don’t know what tomorrow brings, but one thing I do know is the one thing that keeps me going is my children. The reason why I get up in the mornings, the reason why I work so hard, the reason why I love so hard!!! It is part of a legacy I want to leave behind for my children.
A legacy that I loved them well, provided well, fought well for them, was a voice for them when they had no choice, and that my ethics and morals and values sometimes came across as hard core, and non negotiable, but only so they can carry it forward to the next generation, and that in the moments of quiet and withdrawn moments, it was because I was on my knees and crying out to God for them.
In my opinion a persons greatest success is the relationship they have with their children when they have nothing more to offer them but loving them. And this is such a hard one, because life is not perfect and we are not perfect, and what looks like success and love to the outside world could look like a messy middle in our own lives. Because that’s life, we have a beginning, a middle and an end. And in that middle is sometimes or most times a very messy middle that is transitioning, but never ever falling short of unconditional love.
But One thing I am convicted about is that love will always prevail, no matter what season we are in. And in those seasons where it feels like there is no love to give or receive, faith and hope will carry us through. Because LOVE NEVER FAILS!
Seasons come and go as we all know, our winters can be longer than they are for others. But summertime will always come, Autumn will shed lots of baggage and tears and rightfully as it has been designed so that Spring can bring in the new, the fresh, the seed that was planted in the dark will take root.
But when all is over and done, and we look back, let’s make sure we embraced those seasons and learnt the lessons, the growth, transformation and regeneration to spacious places and freedom.
Ultimately what I think we all want and need is peace, a peace that transcends all understanding.
Wishing you all a wonderful new season.
