ANPR Instrumental in Guesthouse Robbery Take Down
Criminal activity in the South Peninsula has residents and businesses on edge. This part of Cape Town is a popular tourist spot, which has not gone unnoticed by criminals, who are now actively targeting tourists, local guesthouses and BnBs. While this trend is on the rise, the community, SAPS and local security networks are fighting back, with ANPR proving to be a vital part of the solution.
Earlier this month, a Glencairn guesthouse owner reported a burglary in which a TV and vehicle were stolen. The incident was shared across security networks and ANPR cameras soon picked up the stolen vehicle in Retreat, prompting a swift response from Traffic officers in Grassy Park. A while later, law enforcement were able to stop the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody for possession of a stolen vehicle as well as drugs which were found in the vehicle.
If your security company does not have ANPR technology, ask why. It is an extra layer of protection for your community and crimes are more likely to be prevented when this technology is in play.
