It is said that nearly half of all marriages in South Africa end in divorce. Unfortunately divorce usually goes hand in hand with great unhappiness about the way in which the assets the two parties have built up over the years should be divided.

The marriage contract will determine to a large extent how these assets are to be divided.

Therefore, it is worthwhile to spend time scrutinising different forms of marriage contracts and how each of them can affect the division of assets later.

Here are a few examples from my blog: https://www.sanlamadvice.co.za/bluestar/Rainmaker/blogs/women-and-divorce-the-financial-implications/13315124101713

Speak to a local financial adviser from your community this October during .

💡Think of it as the annual money check-in you may have missed.

At the start of the year, many of us set financial goals...
Save more...
Invest consistently...
Reduce debt...
Build a safety net.

But life happens.

The good news?

You don't need a new year to make a fresh start. October is the perfect opportunity to pause, review where you are, and take the next step towards where you want to be.

Sometimes, the smartest financial move isn't doing it alone. A conversation with a nearby Sanlam Financial Planner like Johann Steyn can help you see opportunities, spot gaps, and build a plan that works for your life.

Your future self will thank you for starting today. 🌱

What financial goal would you most like to achieve before the end of the year? Leave a message on my digital business card below to connect.

The year-end is fast approaching, with less than 3 months to go before we all start winding down for some well-deserved time off.

In the lead up we suggest that you review the following key "allowances" and financial considerations:

REVIEWING YOUR FINANCIAL PLAN

The final quarter of the year is a good time to "spring clean" your financial plan to ensure that you are on track to achieve the goals set out at the beginning of the year.

REVIEWING YOUR WILL

We encourage you to review your will or have a new will drafted.

HOLIDAY SAVINGS PLAN

If you haven't started already, now is the time to start saving for those end-of-year expenses.

This year has been a challenging year for us all. For the last quarter, our advice to you is to focus on what you can control and not focus on things that are out of your hands.

Some of the things you can control are your finances.

A common challenge for many SMEs isn't a lack of ambition. It's a lack of financial visibility.

Economic uncertainty, changing market conditions and rising costs make financial discipline more important than ever. One of the simplest ways to strengthen your business is to revisit the fundamentals:

• Monitor cash flow consistently
• Manage debt strategically
• Keep personal and business finances separate

As the saying goes, "A failure to plan is a plan to fail."

Taking time to review these areas can help business owners move from simply surviving to planning for sustainable growth.
