The insurance Industry addressed the power surge risk by implementing the following: increasing the premium on that section, applying limits to the cover or increasing the excesses. The client will perceive this as negative changes. Part of our work is to try and limit premium increases. If the frequency of claims rises, the risk and premium will definitely increase. We strongly advise our clients to install power surge protection. There is various methods available to do this. We suggest that you speak to your local electrician for guidance. These are the options that we started using: Added a surge protector to the distribution board and similar devices on the major appliances. The process will be manageable if it is done bit by bit. We all need to consider how we can REDUCE OR LOWER OUR risk exposure. Let's be pro-active.
