When I started my independent working journey, I always felt that the title 'VA' wasn't really accurate, and actually, a lot of the work I do is more skilful and complex; bookkeeping/ credit control, manufacturing, contracts, management and negotiation" A friend/ client actually said to me, "You're not a VA. you're more than that, I have acquired a name lately "THE FIXER, " so I will embrace that name for now until I figure out what to call myself 🤣.

The one thing I absolutely love about working for small/ medium-sized businesses is seeing how much passion, drive, and hard work go into what they do. You don't see this in large establishments, but in my position, I get to see the journey and add to it. No task is too small when it means I will help them achieve their goals quicker! Last month, in speaking to a clients supplier, the supplier said, "we've been told you are very protective over them, so we need to talk to you." And from that, it was clear, NO one is cheering on my clients more than me!

I can't put this anymore bluntly! Every person I speak to tell, new, old, and potential clients tell me they either do their bookkeeping themselves OR a family member does it. Unless they have experience in this, then stop! The only carnage I can compare this to is a 5 year old cooking spaghetti bolegnese.

Every time I look at the accounts that have been managed this way, it's a total mess and sometimes can take a year to get it straight after managing queries and digging deep into bank statements, invoices etc. It can also mean you are losing money! Is your accountant missing things because you haven't put it into the right field? Are you getting fines for lateness? Ask yourself, how would you manage your accounts if you were suddenly audited. Would you be able to deliver it all?

These few words are so powerful in so many ways. Do you have the right people in the right roles? Do you need support with budgeting and buying? When is the last time you evaluated your supplier list. Are you spending so much time on operations that the finances are lacking attention?

Think about your business and the questions above. If you need business support, get in touch. We offer a free consultation and can sometimes set up a visit if you are local.
