TISA Insurance is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for a short- term Credit Control & Premium Receipting Support to join our Operations and Finance. The Credit Control and Premium Receipting Support is responsible for carrying out everyday in country banking transactions, management of petty cash, receipting of premiums received via bank accounts, and credit controls of aged debts. You will also support the General Manager for administration related to purchase and expenses by liaising with the Finance Team.

TISA Insurance Responds to Repeal of Mandatory Third-Party Motor Insurance
PORT VILA, Vanuatu – 20 May 2026 – TISA Insurance Vanuatu (formerly Capital Insurance) has noted the recent government announcement regarding the repeal of the mandatory third-party motor vehicle insurance requirement.

While the previous system was not without its challenges, it functioned effectively to provide a crucial safety net. For years, this framework ensured that passengers, pedestrians, and property owners had guaranteed access to compensation in the event of accidents. TISA Insurance remains committed to the financial protection of our nation and is currently assessing the implications of this abrupt change, which was implemented without prior consultation with the industry.

"We were surprised by this announcement," said Ali Wilkinson, Country Manager, TISA Insurance Vanuatu. "As of now, we are working internally to understand how this repeal impacts our operations and our policyholders. Our primary concern is the protection of our community."

The Importance of Third-Party Coverage TISA Insurance wishes to highlight the critical role that third-party cover plays in the stability of our economy and society:

• Protecting the Vulnerable: Our data shows that almost 50% of all motor claims processed by our industry are for third-party injuries or property damage. This underscores the essential nature of this coverage in shielding the most vulnerable members of our society from catastrophic financial loss caused by the actions of others.

• Economic Confidence: Third-party insurance provides necessary security to international tourists visiting our shores, bolstering confidence in Vanuatu as a safe and reliable destination.

• Proven Economic Resilience: The insurance industry has demonstrated its vital importance to the Vanuatu economy, most recently through our response to the 2024 earthquake. In the aftermath of that event, the industry facilitated the injection of multiple billions of Vatu into the economy to repair and replace damaged or destroyed buildings and property, providing the foundation for national recovery.

Commitment to Dialogue and Compliance TISA Insurance remains committed to full compliance with all regulations as they are officially gazetted. However, we urgently seek a formal discussion with the government to understand the specific concerns regarding the previous approach. By identifying these issues, we hope to work collaboratively toward solutions that address the government's objectives while maintaining the necessary financial protection for the country.

Furthermore, we request an immediate dialogue regarding the government’s transition plans. Clarity on the transition period is essential to ensure that policyholders are not left unprotected and that the shift is managed in a way that minimizes disruption to the public and the economy.

We stand ready to engage with the government to ensure that the interests of the ni-Vanuatu people and the economic health of the nation remain protected.
