Last island for the VARTC CTRAV Banana Project team was Malikula. Juliane KAOH and Rosanne MOLGOS, from VARTC Horticulture Section, went to Malikula with two colleagues from Institut Agronomique néo-Calédonien - IAC to pursue the completion of a banana trees collection at VARTC.

In two months, Juliane visited 5 islands (Santo, Efate, Vanua Lava, Tana and Malikula) to collect new varieties of Banana trees. More than 100 varieties have been gathered and are now part of the VARTC collection, in Santo.

Warm thanks to Ambassade de France au Vanuatu who supported the project through the "Fonds Pacifique 2018", to our IAC colleagues Valéry, Carole, Julien and Wamé, to our colleagues from Department of Agriculture Vanuatu for their supports, and to all farmers who hosted VARTC team in islands, shared their knowledges and contributed to collect planting materials.

Hundreds of Ramboutan have been stolen yesterday evenings at VARTC by people living at Jubilee Farm.
Not only they stole fruits, but they broke branches and damages the trees.
They have been clearly identified, and VARTC management is going to lodge a complaint against them.

VARTC is a Research Centre whose purpose is to support farmers. If some people steal VARTC, they steal farmers of Vanuatu.

IT IS A SHAME!

They will probably try to sell those fruits today. Please refuse to buy them!
