We would like to introduce our team members who have been with us from day one to build a small dream into a regionally recognized venture capital fund – SonTech Investment.
LET’S MEET OUR TEAM
🔹Son Ta, Founder
Son Ta is one of the top 200 wealthiest investors in the Vietnamese stock market in 2022. Apart from being a major shareholder of Hoa Phat Group (HPG), he is also the founder of SonTa Foundation, which is dedicated to do philanthropic activities in Tanzania, East Africa. Son, who has had the opportunity of traveling across the world including Africa, Latin America, Oceania, and the United States, recognized that technology holds the key to long-term societal growth
Thus, Son Tech Investment was founded upon his return to Vietnam out of a desire to build the dreams of himself and millions of other aspiring entrepreneurs. In addition, Son has years of experience in agricultural food processing and distribution, hospitality, entertainment, finance, and investment.
🔹Hai Phung, Advisor
Hai is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). Hai has over 15 years of experience in Senior Management roles. He was on the Board of Controllers of a 100% foreign bank, a Business Development Director and FP&A Director of a large MNC in pharma distribution, and Senior Manager at EY Vietnam.
His excellent problem solving, strong commercial mindset and project management skills have been proven in setting up banking licensing advisory services business at EY in 2012, building up FP&A department from scratch, transforming Finance function of a large pharma group in 2015 and successfully developing his own training and consulting business from 2016.
Having experienced ups and downs and currently holding C-level positions in multiples corporations, Hai has decided to join Son Tech as an advisor alongside Son and write a new chapter in his professional life.
🔹Nicholas Duong Nguyen, Advisor
After graduating from Monash University in Australia, Duong joined Golden Harvest as Sales Manager and spearheaded the team's successful pe*******on of the European market. Then, Duong founded Meete, the leading promotion distribution platform for offline retailers, which distributes to thousands of O2O campaigns. Seven years of experience at Meete working with FnB merchants in Vietnam assisted him to uncover the unmet demand for the provision of fresh food to businesses and restaurants - Chodeli. As the company's founder, Duong has led Chodeli's team to generate $90k in sales in just five months and has pledged to reach $2 million by the end of 2023.
As a close friend of Son and utilizing his expertise and connections in the startup ecosystem, Duong embarked on a venture capital journey as an advisor at Son Tech and committed to assisting aspiring founders in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
🔹Tung Tran, Senior Associate
Tung is a consultant turned investors, with a strong favor for operators. Prior to SonTech, he was a senior consultant at Dream Incubator, where he supports the launching of new impact investment vehicles and also advising MNCs on new ventures in IT, real estates and agriculture; Before that he was a researcher at Frankfurt SAFE research center, focusing on investment and income questions, a Vietnam country operator of a coffee startup that exports responsibly produced beans to Berlin, and also helped setting-up "among the first" D2C groceries startup in Vietnam.
Tung earned his degrees from Goethe University Frankfurt in business administration, economics with a scholarship for promising young researcher.
🔹Harry Do, Associate
Harry Do is an Associate of SonTech Investment, and a Managing Director and Co-Founder of Genie (an innovative social audio app). After graduating from Macquarie University with a Bachelor’s in Corporate Finance, Harry began as an Investment Banker in Australia, where he provided clients with the M&A and Fundraising services. Fascinated by the impact of technology innovation, he then founded a multi-sided marketplace solving the fragmentation of warehousing and car parking in Vietnam, utilizing individual and residential spaces.
🔹Ben Nguyen, Associate
Ben attended the University of New South Wales in Sydney, worked as a project consultant for an Australian cosmetics company, and raised significant funding from angel investors and government entities. Prior to M&A agreement, Ben analyzes significant revenue drivers and identifies red flags as a Due Diligence Analyst for PwC Vietnam.
Inspired by the rapid growth of startups landscape in SEA, Ben joined Son Tech as an Investment Analyst. In addition, Ben has a keen interest in Blockchain and has become an avid fan of Defi and Ecosystem, both of which he advises on their fundraising and business development.
