Nextrans has published the 2023 Vietnam Startup Industry Report.

The year 2023 was a period of great turmoil. With the increase in interest rates, many funds moved from emerging markets to stable markets, and the reduction in demand caused by inflation had a significant impact on the industry.

However, IT startups have supported the increase in productivity and efficiency of the industry, leading to diverse changes and growth.

NEXTRANS EVENT RECAP - NAVIGATING THE FUNDRAISING LANDSCAPE

On 23 May, Nextrans and Carta had the honor to share our data and insights about the current fundraising landscape and how founders can navigate it with all participants.

Regarding the current landscape, we see that Vietnam startups' valuation could fall up to 50% from their peak in 2021, many equity investors are taking steps back, also, regulations are set to be eased on startup financing as global volatility spooks investors. The number of deals in the first half of 2023 is decreasing considerably (11 deals) compared to H1 2022, mostly are growth and later stages deals, with a total funding amount of nearly $300M. Notable deals are: EQuest, BuyMed, Nhi D**g 315, F88, MindX.

Although startups in the market are facing many difficulties now, we strongly believe in the long-term prospect of Vietnam's digital economy.

The message from our CEO, Eddy Hong is: "Instead of having a short-term perspective and being indecisive, we should stay tuned and discover outstanding startups that will lead the Vietnamese market."

Besides, we got very insightful statistics and sharings from Carta and Pilon founders, about making decision on fundraising: organic growth or acceleration by funding, and also how to manage the fundraising journey effectively.
