If Louisiana insurance reform conversations seemed quieter this legislative session… you weren’t imagining it.

This year, much of the Capitol’s focus shifted toward:
• Healthcare legislation
• Workers’ compensation concerns
• PBM & pharmacy-related issues

Property & casualty insurance discussions still happened, but they were not the primary focus this session.

That doesn’t mean Louisiana’s insurance challenges are gone — conversations around affordability, litigation, storm-related fraud, and market stability are still ongoing behind the scenes.

We’ll continue keeping an eye on updates that could impact Louisiana families and businesses. 🏡💼

While flood zones reflect the potential for flooding from rainfall and inland water, storm surge risk areas focus on coastal flooding caused by hurricanes pushing water inland.

This difference matters because a property located in a low-risk flood zone can still be highly vulnerable to storm surge. Relying on a single map often leaves significant gaps in a risk strategy.

Accurately identifying which trigger applies to a specific location ensures that coverage is properly aligned with the actual exposure.

⚾️ Castello Agency Girls Night at the ballpark for LSU Tigers baseball! 💜💛

We had such a fun evening at last night’s game, thanks to LCI Workers’ Comp for the generous tickets!

The seats were incredible—right in the newly renovated dugout area, giving us a front-row, on-the-field experience. The hospitality was just as impressive, with full service throughout the game that made the night even more enjoyable.

It was the perfect opportunity for our team to step away from the office, spend time together, and enjoy a great game. And to top it off—the Tigers brought home a win against Northwestern State Demons! 🐯

We’re thankful for partners like LCI who make experiences like this possible.

Louisiana Insurance Update: A damage-cap bill discussed this legislative session has been rejected in committee.

House Bill 526 proposed a cap on certain general damages in most civil lawsuits, while excluding categories such as medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and some severe permanent injury cases.

Supporters argued the bill could help reduce litigation costs and ease insurance pressure over time. Opponents and committee members raised concerns about whether those changes would actually lead to lower premiums and how the bill could affect certain plaintiffs.

For now, the bill did not move forward, but the broader conversation around insurance costs, litigation, and market reform in Louisiana is still very much ongoing.

Accidents are stressful, and in the moment, it is easy to forget important next steps.

After an accident, try to stay calm and remember the basics:
• Make sure everyone is safe and call 911
• Contact law enforcement so the incident is properly documented
• Take photos of the vehicles, damage, and scene
• Exchange contact and vehicle information
• Get the other driver’s insurance information
• Check your insurance ID card for claim reporting information
• Review whether your policy includes things like towing or rental reimbursement
• Be careful not to guess, assume, or admit fault at the scene

Every situation is different, but understanding your coverage and knowing what information to gather can make a stressful moment a little more manageable.
