Freezing Temps & Aerobic Systems – Quick Tips
• Limit water use: short showers, no baths, and one load of laundry per day until temps rise.
• Optional: Insulate sprinkler heads with a 5-gallon bucket filled with straw or hay and weigh it down. Only one sprinkler needs to work.
• If your system alarms, it doesn’t always mean failure. One spray in 24 hours (usually overnight) is normal.
• If alarms occur with slow drains, gurgling, or toilet issues. STOP all water use immediately and call your service provider.
• DIY tip: If sprinklers haven’t sprayed in 24 hours, a head may be frozen. Pour hot TAP water (not boiling) over ONE sprinkler. If it pops up and sprays, the system should reset on its own.
