The Loyal Opposition to the Status Quo, Inc. (LOSQ) The LOSQ is a non-profit, tax exempt, IRS 501 (c) (3) organization. It is licensed by the state of Michigan to solicit donations.

Accordingly, all donations can be deducted as charitable contributions.

On Friday October 28th from 6-9pm we will be holding our Annual Meet and Greet. This years event will be held at the Parkridge Community Center located at 591 Armstrong Drive in Ypsilanti. This is a great evening to meet your neighbors, maybe do some networking and let people know what the LOSQ is trying to do for the community! Hope to see you there!

Do you have an 8th through 12th grade student that would enjoy seeing a Detroit Tigers game? On September the 24th, the Tigers organization has donated a group of tickets so the LOSQ can take the kids to see the Tigers take on the Baltimore Orioles! First pitch is at 7:05. We are currently working out the transportation details. Tickets are limited so reserve your child's ticket today! Call Ray at 734-485-7515.

This Saturday September 3rd, the LOSQ will be giving out tickets to the Howard University v. EMU football game! The tickets are for 8-12 graders. You'll meet at the Admissions Welcome Center (220 Student Center)promptly at 5 pm where EMU tour guides will give the students a tour of the university. After the tour, tickets will be given out and off to the game we will go! If you or someone you know is interested, please call Ray Mullins (734-485-7515) to reserve your tickets!

State Representative David Rutledge will be joining us this Saturday July 16th from 2-4pm. He will be discussing the issuses surrounding education and Emergency Financial Managers. Plan to attend and feel welcome to bring a friend (or 2, or 3, )!

And where will you be this evening? There is a working session tonight from 7-9pm at 30 N. Washington. Discussion topics include grant writting, fundraising and other ways to fund our planned projects. Bring your ideas and be ready to roll up your sleeves!

The LOSQ is a 501(c)(3) orginization - this means we are a recognized non-profit group. HOWEVER, that does not mean we are without expenses. Our minimum budget runs about $300. a month. This supports our very part time clerical help, mailing expenses and general operating expenses. Can you help? (see next post)

Upcomming dates: Mark your calendars! Saturday 6/11/11 10:30-12:30 - Discussion with youths. All are welcome and bring a youth with you!
Saturday 6/18 - 10 am - 5pm - NAACP Juneteeth Celebration. We could use some volunteers to help sell shirts and meet the people!
During the Celebration from 2 - 4, our monthly board & general meeting will take place at our display table. See YOU there!

The African-American Downtown festival booth was a success. We obtained 5 new members and 24 persons who signed up to obtain additional information regarding the LOSQ. I wish to thank the members who assisted us with the table display. We sold a couple of “44 BFD” T-Shirts
