September is full of moments that remind us how far determination and innovation can take us. As an insurance agency that helps protect what matters to our community here in Yonkers, we love looking back at milestones that pushed boundaries and shaped the world we live in.

Here are three historic September moments we’re celebrating:

🫀 September 2, 1952 – A surgical team at the University of Minnesota completed the first successful open‑heart surgery using hypothermia, a breakthrough that changed modern medicine.

🚀 September 5, 1977 – NASA launched Voyager 1, the spacecraft that continues to travel farther than any human‑made object in history, carrying the Golden Record as a message from Earth.

🏗️ September 30, 1935 – Construction began on the Hoover Dam, a massive engineering project completed ahead of schedule during the Great Depression.
