I want to give a shout out to the great team at Glass America for making my 2023 gladiator great again.
I have sent them hundreds of clients over the years for great service but never needed it my own.

I was driving down Jasper road with no vehicles to the front or at the back of me, no on was mowing, no tractors in the field.

I heard a loud pop and there it was, a crack across the center of my windshield.

Steve was an excellent reflection of Kim’s leadership and customer service at Glass America. Thank you!!

Well winter has arrived a little early this year. Please make sure that your batteries have been changed in your smoke detectors, garden hoses removed from faucets outside, gutters are cleaned, outside drains cleared, snow shovel is close to your door with some ice melt.

Many homeowners are shocked to learn that utility companies are not responsible for lines from the road to your home. That is right when your service is interrupted due to a line break you will have to call and have it repaired. Depending on distance from the source you could be paying $3000-$10,000 in any given utility. If you have not already done so call your local independent agent and speak to them about adding service line protection to your home. The cost per year is less than what one utility company will charge.
Make your call today.

Latest scam in town has to do with utilities. I received a call from someone saying they were AES and they were coming to turn off my service for nonpayment of $900 within the hour. I pulled my bills and had all my confirmation numbers of payment. I called AES and they confirmed it was a scam that everything was current. The person from AES said that they would never call about disconnect on the phone. A little over an hour later received another call to the same number stating that my service was going to be shut off at the same address. I told them I was Amish and didn't have Electric so it couldn't be late.

Homeowners be aware Ohio is being swamped with storm chasers due to the weather events last week. If someone stops by and asked to look at your roof, you should send them on their way. Call your local insurance agent and speak to them about any possible claims.
It is always best to use local roofers that have a good reputation, if not if there is ever a problem you will never find them again. Protect yourselves from scams.

Weather alert for Miami Valley today. Freezing rain and sleet in the forecast. Might want to get alternative lighting ready and some back up water stored. Stay off the roads unless you absolutely need to go out.

Indoor and outdoor preparation is key to prevent issues that can arise during the cold winter months. By taking a few simple steps, you can protect your home from winter hazards.

~ Maintain temperature. Set your thermostat to no lower than 55 F. Pipes are often cooler in interior walls, making it crucial to keep your home warm.

~ Schedule maintenance. Have a professional HVAC contractor inspect your furnace before you start heating your home for winter.

~ Allow faucets to drip. In extreme cold, let faucets drip lukewarm water to prevent freezing. A drip rate of about one drop per second is usually enough.

~ Keep doors open. Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warmer air to circulate around plumbing.

~ Test alarms. Before winter arrives, test all smoke, fire, and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are functioning properly.

~ Inspect fireplaces. Before using your fireplace for the season, have a professional inspect and clean it to remove buildup and ensure it is safe to use.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if you need some suggestions on who would be great to work with!

Today 12/12/2024 goes down in History as the groundbreaking of the New Market District. As we will begin to see some heavy equipment start to move dirt and bring down the Ramada inn building. The community celebrates this day to bring new life to our Historic downtown.

We’ve complied a short list of things people often forget to do before the first snowfall of the year. Check to make sure that you get these things done!

- Clean out your gutters from fallen leaves.

- Disconnect any hoses on the exterior of your home or garage.

- Trim back any limbs that if covered in ice would damage your property.

- Change the filter in your furnace.

- Check your carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors.

We hope this helps bring some small things that could potentially cost you a lot down the road if forgotten!
