Our workforce is eager and ready and we have a number of sites suitable for most any type of industry including advanced

manufacturing, data centers, large-scale distribution, food and beverage processing, and many more. We also are home to Progress Park and its certified, shovel-ready super site, Lot 24. A 166 acre pad (on a larger 232 acre site) is accessible to rail, redundant broadband and electricity, and all major infrastructure needs including natural gas, water, sewer, and more. The Virginia To***co Region Revitalization Commission recently awarded the Joint IDA $390,657 for the redevelopment of the blighted building located at 140 S 1st Street in downtown Wytheville. This rehabilitation project will restore ten residential units to Wythe County’s housing market and return over 3,000 sq. ft. of street level commercial space to inventory in downtown Wytheville. To date, the project has received more than $1.9 million in grant awards from our partners at the Commission, Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, and Virginia Housing. The Joint Industrial Development Authority held its annual Tenure Awards luncheon to celebrate Wythe County industries at the Wytheville Meeting Center. An important part of the Joint IDA’s annual industry appreciation activities is our recognition of companies that have had a presence in Wythe County for a multiple of five years. Our tenure awards give us an opportunity to acknowledge and honor the important contributions made by these businesses in our community.

Joining the Joint IDA Board of Directors and the celebrated businesses were members of Wythe County VA administration, Town of Wytheville Council members and administration, and business service partners Wytheville Community College, and Mount Rogers Region. The Joint IDA also recognized the ongoing community support of WythevilleOffices.com, who has been the sole sponsor of the luncheon since its inception in 2005.

Joint IDA Executive Director David Manley shared the history of each company being awarded, and a commemorative glass trophy was presented by Joint IDA Chairman Michael Cole. The following companies were recognized for their contributions to the community over extended periods:

The Joint Industrial Development Authority of Wythe County, VA will be hosting a Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for a How to Qualify Workshop for the Virginia Enterprise Zone (VEZ) program at the Wytheville Meeting Center as one of five workshops being held throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. These workshops will provide detailed instructions on the qualification process for Grant Year 2025 Real Property Investment Grants and Job Creation Grants.

Workshops are for companies located in an Enterprise Zone that created jobs or made investments in real property in calendar year 2025. There will also be a section for CPAs who are conducting attestations for applicants. Attendance is open to the public and free of charge. Please REGISTER through the link below.

Governor Glenn Younkin announced today that Duchess Dairy Products will invest approximately $895,000 to expand its dairy processing operations in Wythe County. The family-owned and operated dairy products manufacturer plans to grow its operation by adding a production line of churned butter, in addition to its current line of premium bottled milk.

“Growing small businesses in our rural communities is vital to the continued growth of the Commonwealth’s largest private industry, agriculture. Congratulations to Duchess Dairy on this expansion and for investing in Southwest Virginia,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin.
