Heavy Rain Is on the Way!
With 4+ inches of rain possible over the next few days, now is a good time to make sure your home is ready. A few simple checks today can help prevent water damage when the rain starts coming down!
🏠 Test your sump pump. Make sure it’s working properly before the heavy rain arrives. Adding a simple water sensor nearby can also alert you to water before it becomes a bigger problem.
💧 Check your gutter extenders. Make sure they’re securely attached and directing water away from your foundation. They can easily get moved by wind, mowing, or everyday yard work.
🍂 Clear your gutters and downspouts. Leaves and debris can block water from draining properly, causing it to overflow and collect around your home.
🪟 Check your window well covers. Make sure they’re secure and properly positioned. Nebraska wind can shift them, leaving your window wells exposed to heavy rainfall.
🌱 Take a look around your foundation. If you have low spots where water tends to collect, adding and packing dirt can help direct water away from your home.
