If you've followed along this week, you've thought about the two kinds of life insurance, who really needs it, protecting your paycheck, your beneficiaries, college savings, and open enrollment.

Here's the one question I ask every family I sit down with: "If something happened tomorrow, what's the ONE thing you'd want handled for the people you love?"

Most people answer in one sentence. And that sentence tells us exactly where to start.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **NEXT** with your one thing β€” I'll point you to the right next step. No pitch.

Know a family who'd benefit from this week's posts? Please share.

*Educational information only. Not tax, legal, or investment advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** Which topic should I go deeper on next week? **1** = term vs permanent, **2** = covering both parents, **3** = disability, **4** = beneficiaries, **5** = college, **6** = open enrollment. Drop a number πŸ‘‡

Open enrollment season is here β€” and this one's for the fine-print readers.

Once a year, your employer hands you choices about life insurance, disability coverage, and more. Most of us click through in ten minutes and pick what we had last year.

Before you do: check how much life coverage you actually have (often just 1–2x salary), whether it follows you if you leave, and what disability coverage β€” if any β€” is included.

Ten minutes of reading now can save your family from a nasty surprise later.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **ENROLL** and I'll send the 5-question open-enrollment checklist I give families.

*Educational information only. Not tax, legal, or investment advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** True or false: "My employer benefits are enough protection for my family." Drop **TRUE** or **FALSE** πŸ‘‡

College planning doesn't require a fortune. It requires a head start.

A small amount set aside regularly, started early, can grow into real options for your kids β€” because time does the heavy lifting. Waiting until high school means racing the clock.

There are accounts built specifically for education savings, each with their own rules and trade-offs. The details matter β€” but the first step is the same: start, even small.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **PLAN** and I'll send the simple guide to education-savings options β€” educational, no pitch.

*Educational information only. I am a licensed insurance agent β€” not a broker-dealer or investment adviser. This is not investment, legal, or tax advice. Consult appropriately licensed professionals before making education-savings decisions.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** React **❀️** if you've started something for the kids' education, **πŸ‘** if it's still on the to-do list. πŸ‘‡

Quick question β€” do you know who would actually receive your 401(k), your life insurance, or your bank accounts if something happened to you tomorrow?

Most people named someone years ago β€” a form filled out in a hurry on day one of a job, never updated since. And here's the part most people don't realize: those beneficiary forms usually override your will.

It takes minutes to check. But nobody reminds you to do it.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **SECURE** and I'll send the short beneficiary checkup checklist β€” the accounts to review and what to look for.

*Educational information only. I am a licensed insurance agent β€” not a broker-dealer or investment adviser. This is not investment, legal, or tax advice. Consult your plan administrator and appropriately licensed professionals before making retirement-account decisions.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** A, B, or C β€” when did you last check your beneficiaries? **A** = this year, **B** = years ago, **C** = never. πŸ‘‡

Here's the protection gap almost nobody talks about.

We all plan for the day we retire. But what if an illness or injury kept you from working for months β€” or years? The mortgage, the groceries, the car payment don't pause while you recover.

Disability income insurance exists for exactly that: it's designed to replace part of your paycheck if you can't work because of illness or injury. Most people have never heard of it β€” and fewer know whether their employer offers any.

You don't have to be a risk-taker to need it. You just need a paycheck your family depends on.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **PAYCHECK** and I'll send the 3-minute explainer on how it works.

*Educational information only. Not tax, legal, or investment advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** Comment **1** if you've ever looked into disability coverage, **2** if this is the first you're hearing of it. πŸ‘‡

Tuesday myth-bust: "Only the breadwinner needs life insurance."

Think about everything a stay-at-home parent does in a week: childcare, cooking, driving, scheduling, homework, keeping the whole household running. If that suddenly had to be hired out, what would it cost? A lot β€” every single week.

Life insurance isn't only about replacing a paycheck. It's about protecting everything that keeps the family running, no matter who earns what.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **FAMILY** and I'll walk you through how families think about covering both parents β€” educational, no obligation.

*Educational information only. Not tax, legal, or investment advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** True or false: "A stay-at-home parent doesn't need life insurance." Drop **TRUE** or **FALSE** πŸ‘‡ β€” answer in the comments tomorrow.

Life insurance has two main flavors, and nobody explains them simply. So here goes.

Term life is like renting protection: you pick a period β€” say 20 or 30 years β€” and during that time your family is covered at a steady, manageable cost. When the term ends, so does the coverage.

Permanent life is like owning it: coverage designed to last your whole life, usually with higher ongoing costs and a savings-like feature called cash value that builds over time.

Neither is automatically better. It depends on what you're protecting and for how long.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **BASICS** and I'll send the simple one-page breakdown β€” educational, no pitch.

*Educational information only. Not tax, legal, or investment advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** Quick check β€” comment **1** if the difference was news to you, **2** if you already knew it. πŸ‘‡

If you followed along this week, you've thought about income, the house, old retirement accounts, the kids' future, and gaps in work coverage.

Good news: you don't have to solve it all today. Protection isn't one giant decision β€” it's small ones. One conversation. One review. One form.

So here's my only ask: take one small step today. Review one old account. Ask one question you've been putting off.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **START** β€” tell me which topic hit home and I'll point you to the right next step. No pitch.

Know someone who needs this week's posts? Please share them.

*Educational information only. I am a licensed insurance agent β€” not a broker-dealer or investment adviser. This is not investment, legal, or tax advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** Which topic hit home most? **1** income, **2** mortgage, **3** old 401(k), **4** kids' future. Drop a number πŸ‘‡ β€” next week leans into your answers.

Saturday myth-bust: "I'm covered β€” I have life insurance through my job."

What employer coverage usually is:
β€’ Often just 1–2x your salary β€” months of income, not years.
β€’ Tied to the job β€” it typically ends when the paycheck does.
β€’ Not portable in most cases β€” and replacing it later, especially with health issues, gets harder and pricier.

A nice perk, but rarely a plan. A policy you own stays with you through job changes and moves. That's the difference between being covered and being protected.

πŸ‘‰ DM me **CHECK** for the 5-minute coverage self-review I give families.

*Educational information only. Not tax, legal, or investment advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** True or false: "My work life insurance follows me if I change jobs." Drop **TRUE** or **FALSE** πŸ‘‡ β€” answer tomorrow morning.

When people hear "legacy planning," they picture mansions and trust funds. Forget that.

For most of us, legacy is simpler: making sure your kids have options β€” college without crushing debt, a safety net while they find their footing.

That doesn't require wealth. It requires starting: a small, consistent plan started early often beats a big one started late. Time is the real asset.

πŸ‘‰ Want to talk through what "options for my kids" could look like for you? DM me **FUTURE**.

*Educational information only. Not tax, legal, or investment advice.*

**πŸ—³οΈ Light poll:** If you could give your kids one head start: **A** college fund, **B** paid-off home, **C** seed money for a venture. Drop A, B, or C πŸ‘‡
