It’s a super-sized proud grandparent moment for Mary and Bob! Their grandson, Zach, was just named Captain of the Iowa Hawkeyes football team!

Zach has always been a phenomenal all-around athlete. During his time at Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids, he played golf, basketball, and served as the star quarterback for the football team, and Bob and Mary never missed a single home game!

While Zach excelled in all three sports, his incredible football skills earned him a full scholarship to the University of Iowa. Because Iowa City is over five hours away, Bob and Mary have traded the stadium bleachers for the comfort of their living room recliners, but they still never miss a game! You can catch Zach and the Hawkeyes playing on the Big Ten Network this season.

Zach has a big, exciting year ahead of him. He will graduate this December with a degree in sports medicine, and he is getting married next June! After that, a shot at the pros might even be on the horizon. No matter what the future holds, one thing is for certain, Bob and Mary will be proudly cheering him on every step of the way!

We channeled our inner Van Gogh for our latest Artmobile project. Using pastels and loose canvas, we created our own masterpieces inspired by The Starry Night. Everyone did an absolutely incredible job!

The King Turkey Day, Inc. Official 2026 race team was our Community Coffee speaker this month, and they were an incredibly fun bunch! Paycheck even came along as a surprise guest!

Megan Prins, Toni Brouillet, Jay Jensen, and Patrick Mahoney make up this year's race team. After hearing about their training schedule and strategies, we're confident that Paycheck is in the best of hands and will make Worthington proud on race day!

You can catch "The Great Gobbler Gallop" on downtown's main drag, 10th Street, at 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 19th. Good luck, Megan, Toni, Jay, and Pat! Go, Paycheck, go!

This day was all about good food, great company, and beautiful views! We started with a delicious lunch at The Hub in Slayton, followed by a beautiful afternoon cruise on Lake Shetek. Thank you to Shetek Area Smooth Sailing for hosting us and providing such a fantastic boat ride. We had a wonderful time!

We have 9 amazing team members celebrating August work anniversaries! Together, they represent 26 years of dedicated service to our community! 💚🎉

💚 Jessica (Registered Nurse, 1 Year) - Jessica recently returned from a vacation to the Sturgis motorcycle rally, marking her 12th consecutive year attending the event!

💚 Rose (Resident Assistant, 1 Year) - Rose's favorite part about working at the Meadows is giving hugs to her residents. She loves to give hugs!

💚 Tira (Dining Assistant, 3 Years) - Tira loves seeing and interacting with our residents every day. She is a proud mom to her 5-year-old daughter and is thrilled about her recent SUV purchase!

💚 Stefanie (Life Enrichment Assistant, 7 Years) - Stefanie celebrated a major milestone this year by moving into her dream lakefront home with her husband!

💚 Al (Dining Assistant Lead, 5 Years) - After such a long time of walking everywhere, Al is incredibly thankful for his new truck - and we are just as thankful for him and everything he does for our team!

💚 Avi (Resident Assistant Coach, 4 Years) - Outside of work, Avi loves spending quality time with her 11-month-old niece and 8-year-old nephew, especially taking them on walks to the park.

💚 Paty (Dining Assistant, 3 Years) - Dining Manager Nancy appreciates that Paty is always cheerful and genuinely wants the absolute best for everyone around her.

💚 Alice (Cook, 1 Year) - Dining Manager Nancy said that Alice enjoys cooking, and her wonderful baking is a favorite treat for everyone!

💚 Hira (Resident Assistant, 1 Year) - Hira is proud to serve residents in both assisted living and memory care. When asked why she chooses to work at Ecumen, she shared, "I love my residents!

What a great team! We are grateful for each of you. Happy anniversary!

Meet our newest resident, Dolores!

Dolores just moved here from Rapid City to be closer to her daughter, Sheryl, and her son-in-law, Brad. She grew up in Faulkton, South Dakota, where she took her first job as a secretary for the FHA, working her way up to office manager. When she turned 21, she married her husband, Marion, and spent the next 38 years raising four kids and running the farm together.

After Marion passed away, Dolores moved to Aberdeen and then to Rapid City where her sister and son lived. Now, she is settling into her beautiful new home here in Worthington at the Meadows!

Dolores is a big fan of word games, playing Wordle and Quordle daily to compare scores with Sheryl and Brad. She also enjoys crossword puzzles and never misses an episode of Wheel of Fortune. Outside of her family, her greatest passion is music, having sung in various choirs from the age of 10 all the way until she was 88!

Please help us give Dolores a warm Ecumen Meadows welcome!

Our monthly watercolor class took place right before our Show & Shine car show, so a car theme was a must!

We painted a classic 1955 Chevy Bel Air while listening to a car-themed playlist and snacking on chocolate covered donut "tires." Although we missed getting a group photo of our artists this time, we did snap this great shot of Mary, a watercolor class first-timer, showing off her artwork!

36 vehicles, 225 root beer floats, and 1 amazing community! Big thanks to Hy-Vee for donating the root beer and ice cream for the floats!

Our 9th annual Show & Shine car show was a success! We broke a new record this year with 36 entries that included one rat rod, one motorcycle, two racecars, a couple of tractors, a Flintstone mobile, our new bus, and so many beautiful cars!

While everyone was checking out the unique vehicles, our team stayed busy serving up and handing out root beer floats to our guests!

This event is a labor of love, and we want to extend a big thank you to the proud owners who displayed their vehicles, to everyone from the community who came out to enjoy the fun night with us, and to our hard-working team who put this event together. We can't wait to do it all again next year!
