A few years ago, I got a cold call.

That cold call turned into lunch.

That lunch turned into an opportunity to learn from someone who had built the kind of business I was trying to figure out how to build.

Turns out, what he had to teach was exactly what I needed to learn.

The last few years haven't exactly been the easiest time to grow in the mortgage business. Home sales have been sitting near 30-year lows, rates have been challenging, and there have been plenty of reasons to make excuses.

But I've grown more in the last few years than at any other point in my career.

Not because I suddenly figured everything out.

I found a fantastic environment, learned great systems, became more intentional about relationships, and - probably most importantly - was willing to be coached and actually implement what I learned.

I'm proud of how far I've come, but I'm even more excited that I don't feel remotely finished.

Funny to think it all started because I answered a cold call and agreed to grab lunch.

Sometimes one conversation really can change the trajectory.
