Our office has been getting a lot of questions from clients about fallen trees and if there is coverage. This is a good quick read answering some of those questions. As always feel free to give us a call at 401-766-4200 with any insurance question.

Great article on ice damns and how to fix or prevent them from forming.

With slightly warmer temperatures later today, check your roof. If snow is melting rapidly and forming an ice dam, your heating system could be working overtime by heating your attic. Here are ways to fix ice dams from This Old House: http://bit.ly/1dxWoMO

ATTN: Facebook Friends.High snow drifts can cover the vent for a heating appliances such as furnaces, water heaters, dryers, etc. Which can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning or a fire.

* Be sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
*Clear snow from around all appliance vents and means of escape from your home.
*Shovel out the fire hydrant near your home.
*Keep materials at least three feet from any space heaters.
*Do not run generators or other gas powered devices inside of any building.
*Be sure to clear the tailpipe of your vehicle before starting it in heavy snow to prevent carbon monoxide from backing up into the vehicle.
*Dispose ashes from wood or pellet stoves far away from the house in metal cans with lids.
*And don't forget about your elderly neighbors!!!
