Happy Cybersecurity Awareness Month! 💻 Today we are diving into AI & Deepfake Scams. Watch out for these signs so that you can protect yourself from scammers! 📩

𝐔𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬
Criminals are using deepfakes, which are AI-altered images, videos or audio. Deepfakes can impersonate people you know or recognize, like family, public figures or government officials. If anyone unexpectedly asks you for money, passwords, personal information or secrecy, even if you “recognize” them — that's a red flag of a deepfake scam. Stay calm, hang up and call the person directly.

𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
If someone tells you not to hang up, involves fear, urgency or pressure, it’s a major red flag. Hang up and call the person back directly to verify their identity.

𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
If someone you know is acting out of character, especially over text, phone or video, it might not really be them. Create codewords or phrases with loved ones that you can use in these moments of uncertainty to confirm their identity.

Happy Cybersecurity Awareness Month! 💻 Today we are diving into phone scams. Watch out for these signs so that you can protect yourself from scammers! 📩

𝐔𝐧𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐃
While caller ID can be spoofed, legitimate calls from your bank are more likely to display an official phone number or a known identifier. If not, be very skeptical.

𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬
Phishing calls rely on a sense of urgency. If the caller pressures you into immediate action or threatens negative consequences, just hang up and call the number on the back of your bank card.

𝐀𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Banks will rarely ask for your account number, PIN, or password during a phone call — and will never ask for a one-time login code. Never share such confidential details unless you’ve called the number on the back of your bank card.

𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐲
Be very skeptical of calls you receive out of the blue. Normally, bank representatives will only reach out if you initiate contact first. Stay safe by ending the call and dialing the number on the back of your bank card.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬
Slow it down. Is that the number your bank usually uses to send text messages? Legit text message updates come from an official 4-5 digit number used by your bank.

𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬
Take a breath. Phishing texts try to create a sense of panic, such as threatening to suspend your account or urging you to log in to verify. Real bank texts won’t.

𝐎𝐝𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬
Spot check! If you see misspelled words or odd grammar they are all clear signs of an impersonator. Real banks use spell check.

Something’s phishy, because real banks will never send an email attachment — especially when you didn’t ask for it. Attachments can contain malware that can compromise your computer or personal information. Never click on attachments from emails supposedly from your bank.

Recently, the Women’s Club of Pennsville generously donated $500 to the Salem County Veterans Wreath Project Committee.

The committee is a partnership between the Pennsville VFW, Elsinboro VFW, Franklin Bank, and the, working together to honor our local veterans during the holiday season.

Presenting the donation were members of the Women’s Club of Pennsville. Accepting the check on behalf of the committee were Maryellen Boon of the Pennsville VFW Women’s Auxiliary, along with Caitlin Bradway and Dawn Ellis of Franklin Bank.

The mission of the Salem County Veterans Wreath Project Committee is to ensure that a wreath is placed on every veteran’s gravesite at our local county cemetery during the holiday season, honoring their service and sacrifice.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Women’s Club of Pennsville for their generous donation and continued support of this meaningful cause. Their contribution will help ensure that our veterans are remembered and honored this holiday season.

While the rain kept the Walk ‘N Roll for Lung Cancer Awareness event from taking place as planned this past weekend, we were still proud to be there and show our support. We were honored to participate in the basket auction and stand alongside others helping make a difference. 💫 Thanks to the generosity of our community, the event has already raised nearly $5,000 this year for the South Jersey Cancer Fund, with this weekend’s proceeds still to be counted. 💙
