The Gates-Ridge Civic Association -
Working together to make our neighborhood better
Dear Homeowners,
Many members of our civic association have been inquiring about what we can do as a community to help MercyFirst to be a productive member of our community. As many of you know, the MercyFirst facility located at 525 Convent Road has seen an increasing incidence of runaway children from the facility over the last year. Come learn about MercyFirst and its impact on your neighborhood and the safety of the children both in and surrounding the facility on Tuesday November 13th at Southwoods Middle School auditorium @ 7pm.
With the help of many of the residents in Syosset/Woodbury, a community forum meeting has been coordinated where all the major stakeholders will be in attendance so that we as a community can ask questions in order to better understand what MercyFirst is about and how we can better work together as a community.
Some of the attendees expected will include representatives from the Syosset Central School District, Nassau County Police Department 2nd Precinct, Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS), the Nassau County District Attorney's office, Assemblyman Michael Montesano from the 15th District and Assemblyman Charles Lavine from the 13th District and MercyFirst CEO Gerard McCaffery. We also hope to have newly elected NY State Senator James Gaughran in attendance.
