The Gates Civic Association

The Gates Civic Association The Gates Civic Association was formed to keep the residents of the neighborhood informed about their community and neighborhood.

Our neighborhood has a very active Civic Association. We were incorporated on June 15, 1979 as a not-for-profit corporation that promotes and protects the privileges and interests of the residents of the Gates-Ridge-Plainview Road area. We work to foster interest in civic affairs; to inquire into governmental, political and civic abuses; to provide input when down-zoning occurs to protect the home

owners; to support candidates for public office when necessary; to support or contest proposed changes in zoning; to inform the residents of unsafe practices and conditions; to maintain the entrances and sump areas when possible; and to cultivate knowledge of politics and government. In 2010 we celebrated completing the renovation of our front entrance! Our collection of dues, while minimal, offsets the cost of printing, insurance, mailings, bank charges, membership in the United Civic Association, legal funds when needed and maintaining the landscaping at the entrances and sump areas. We have one General Membership Meeting a year and periodic meetings when necessary. You may join the Board of Directors by contacting our President, Marc Herman at 516-367-8722. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

****UPDATE: —-owners of the dog were located. Thanks to all who shared the post****

This sweet Lab was found wandering on Plainview Rd in Woodbury. A passer-by has him. He has a chip but it is not registered. Does he belong to any of you or do you know this Sweetie Pie?

The Gates-Ridge Civic Association -
Working together to make our neighborhood better

Dear Homeowners,

Many members of our civic association have been inquiring about what we can do as a community to help MercyFirst to be a productive member of our community. As many of you know, the MercyFirst facility located at 525 Convent Road has seen an increasing incidence of runaway children from the facility over the last year. Come learn about MercyFirst and its impact on your neighborhood and the safety of the children both in and surrounding the facility on Tuesday November 13th at Southwoods Middle School auditorium @ 7pm.

With the help of many of the residents in Syosset/Woodbury, a community forum meeting has been coordinated where all the major stakeholders will be in attendance so that we as a community can ask questions in order to better understand what MercyFirst is about and how we can better work together as a community.

Some of the attendees expected will include representatives from the Syosset Central School District, Nassau County Police Department 2nd Precinct, Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS), the Nassau County District Attorney's office, Assemblyman Michael Montesano from the 15th District and Assemblyman Charles Lavine from the 13th District and MercyFirst CEO Gerard McCaffery. We also hope to have newly elected NY State Senator James Gaughran in attendance.

Lastly, if you have not paid your 2018 dues, you may make electronic payment via PayPal or Venmo by clicking the buttons in this email. You may also send the $75 dues made out to The Gates Ridge Civic Association, Marc Herman, 57 Orchard Court. Please visit our website if you would like to confirm your dues payment (password: GatesRidge).

Thank you again.

Warmly,

Marc Herman, President

National Grid & Jericho Water were contacted.....They said to run COLD WATER ONLY til it runs clear (NOT TO RUN THE HOT WATER YET)---No E.T.A. yet on when it will be fixed. Jericho Water District # 516-921-8280 and press "0" to get update. Thank you!
