For a cleaner earnest money paper trail:



Pay from an account that can be documented
Keep the receipt or transfer confirmation
Save the canceled check when applicable
Tell the mortgage professional before using funds from another person


Third-party funds may require additional documentation, so ask before the deadline forces a rushed decision.
