Speed changes everything. When you’re going too fast, you have far less time to react to a turn, a stop, a car pulling out, a pedestrian, or a hazard you didn’t expect. Even if the light changes or someone signals, a driver who’s traveling too quickly may not be able to slow down in time. At corners, that risk is even worse—there’s less sight distance, and small mistakes become deadly.
Distracted driving makes it even more dangerous. Phones, changing music, looking at notifications—anything that pulls your eyes off the road—even for a second—can mean you miss what’s happening in front of you. At the speeds some drivers are going, “just a second” can be the difference between making it home and not.
Please slow down. Pay attention to the road. Put your phone down. Give yourself extra time. Speed and distracted driving aren’t worth your life—or anyone else’s. Drive like you’re responsible for getting home safely.
