Hey everyone, I’m Lonnie Oakley. Thanks for supporting our page here at OMR.

Since I was a kid sitting in the stands at Bowman Gray, I’ve dreamed of one day being behind the wheel of a Modified car. Growing up at the track, the roar of the engines and the thrill of racing always stuck with me.. but it always felt like a distant dream.

This year, that dream is finally becoming a reality. I’m proud to introduce Oakley Modified Racing, featuring car #17.

I’m stepping into this with no prior experience. just a deep passion, a willingness to learn, and a lot of determination. From turning wrenches to understanding setup and race day prep, I’m starting from the ground up. Every mistake is a lesson, every lap is progress.

What makes this journey even more special is that it’s become a true family effort. My wife, family, and friends have all jumped in, supporting me in ways I cant imagine from garage nights to track days. I couldn’t do this without them.

We’re just getting started, and I can’t wait to see where this season takes us. Stay tuned for updates, and come find us at the track— #17 Oakley Modified Racing is officially rolling!
