Built as a symbol of resilience following the 2017 Tubbs Fire, the Cardinal Newman High School Chapel in Santa Rosa, CA features a new collection of eight custom saint windows created by Willet Studios. Crafted in a Munich-inspired style, these windows feature intricate hand-painted details and symbolic elements, like a tiny bear 🐻 hidden in St. Angela Merici’s window for the Ursuline order she founded; Ursula means “little bear”!

We are proud to have collaborated on this sacred space alongside GMH Builders (who we have to thank for some of these beautiful images).

Class is now in session! ✏️🍎📘

In honor of students going back to school after a long summer break, we wanted to share some interesting facts about stained glass! Learning is fun and enjoyable for all ages so let's remember that "back to school" is more like "BACK TO COOL".

FUN FACT:
Stained glass is colored by adding metallic salts when being made! Check out the list below to see what color each metal makes:

- Copper Metal: gives dark red glass
- Gold Metal: in tiny amounts (0.001%) produces ruby red glass
- Silver, (usually silver nitrate): gives range of red to yellow colors
- Cobalt: brilliant blue
- Manganese dioxide: green
- Iron(II) oxide: blue-green
- Chromium: dark green

Willet Studios recently restored and preserved eight stained glass windows before installing new Klear-Flo™ protective coverings at Belmont Church in Nashville, TN.

These coverings create an additional layer of protection between the stained glass and the surrounding environment, helping guard against potential impact and environmental exposure while keeping the beauty of the original artwork visible.

We’re excited to share a look at our work at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City, Missouri!

Willet Stained Glass Studios created 12 large triangular windows and 9 rectangular windows for the cathedral, filling the space with vibrant color, detailed imagery, and plenty of natural light.

It’s always rewarding to see a collection of windows come together and become such an important part of a space. We’re proud of the craftsmanship that went into this project!

Take a moment to appreciate the breathtaking detail of the Angel of the Resurrection window.

A closer look at three beautiful windows at St. Andrew’s Chapel at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD (St. Andrew, Solomon, and St. Paul).

Our team recently completed restoration work on these historic windows as well as a few others. Along with restoration our on-site team also did an interior cleaning to help bring new clarity back to the glass.

It’s an honor to help preserve these meaningful pieces of the Naval Academy’s history!

The article below highlights the installation of our most recent post for Trinity Episcopal Church in Galveston, TX!

"For the first time in almost a year, sunlight will stream through the full complement of historic stained glass windows at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2216 Ball St. in downtown Galveston.

The windows, colorful works of art, the oldest of which dates to 1883, have retaken their rightful place at the church after a years-long restoration project during which the delicate panes were transported to Minnesota to be cleaned and repaired by Willet Studios, a firm that specializes in restoration of historic stained glass.

Workers from the company spent the week in Galveston reinstalling each colorful pane into repaired window frames, removing the plywood that had covered the voids while the project was ongoing.

The Rev. Jimmy Abbott, the church’s rector, sees the completion of the project as a blessing.

“We’re overjoyed to have the windows reinstalled,” Abbott said. “They contribute to the heart and sacred nature of our church.”"
