As the crops are harvested and we get further into fall, deer will begin moving even more. Remember to be cautious while driving, especially at dawn and dusk.
🦌 Slow down!
🦌 Be extra attentive, avoid distractions.
🦌 Never swerve out of your lane to miss a deer.
🦌 Use your high beams when possible.
🦌 Where there is one, there’s almost always another.

Ultra-dry conditions + harvest = higher field fire danger. If you're heading out to harvest soon, or know a farmer who is, remember these tips:

⚠️ Make sure all combines, tractors, and trucks are furnished with a working fire extinguisher — a 10lb ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher is best.

⚠️ Don't skip routine maintenance, fixing any fuel or hydraulic leaks promptly.

⚠️ Make sure all bearings are operating efficiently. An infrared thermometer with a laser is an inexpensive purchase that can help make sure bearings aren't overheating. Check the temperature after the machine is warmed up — bearings above 180°F can cause damage or become dangerous.

⚠️ Clear off excessive debris and dust often — gas or battery powered leaf blowers can quickly help with this.

⚠️ Make sure cell phones are charged and carry a charger with you.

⚠️ Have a tractor hooked up to a disk and/or water tanks nearby which can be used to help control fire spread if one should start.

⚠️ Lastly, no piece of equipment is worth your life. If it catches fire — get out.
