🎢 The bond market looked at the weekend and said, “Absolutely not.”

If you’re closing on a home in the next couple of weeks, today was a good reminder of why we don’t try to predict the market.
So… what happened?

Oil prices jumped after renewed tensions in the Middle East, and that made investors nervous. Why? Because when oil goes up, it can make everything else more expensive—from shipping to groceries to gas- ya know, the basics!!

That brings us to inflation… which is just a fancy way of saying the cost of everyday things keeps going up.

The bond market hates inflation. If investors think inflation is going to stick around, mortgage rates usually head higher too.
To make things even more interesting, this week’s CPI and PPI inflation reports are right around the corner. So today was basically the market saying, “We’re a little nervous about what’s coming next.”

In other words… the market saw higher oil prices, whispered, “Well… this can’t be good,” and everyone got a little twitchy. 😂

Hopefully the inflation reports bring us some good news! 🤞📉
