Congratulations to Lenah Schrock, rising 8th grader at Aylor Middle School, who was recognized as Aylor FFA Chapter's Farm Bureau Young Agriculturalist Award recipient for 2022-23.

This award is sponsored by the Frederick County Farm Bureau and awards a plaque and $25 to a recipient at each middle school FFA Chapter in Frederick County.

Lenah developed an interest in rabbits in the 6th grade as a result of participating in Rabbit 101, a workshop sponsored by Brooke Sigler for the Fair.

What began as one rabbit for the Fair has now expanded to approximately 7 adult rabbits, including a rare heritage breed. Lenah has competed in about 10 rabbit shows over the past year.

Lenah is very active in the Aylor FFA Chapter and is President. She has competed in the Small Animal Care Contest, Jr. Dairymans, and Agriscience Contests. She has been to the State FFA Convention and has participated in numerous leadership events and community service projects for Aylor FFA.

Culpeper gardener Paul Jarosh’s 103-pound butternut squash smashed a world record at the recent State Fair of Virginia Giant Vegetable Competition. The squash weighs almost 40 pounds more than the current entry in the Guinness World Records, and 20 pounds more than the standing record with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth.
