I just wanted to share something. Yesterday was a little rough. I received news that a client I have had for 6 years and just completed the renewal for, had signed a BOR.
No warning and for no reason, other than “they received an offer they couldn’t refuse”. I felt like I was in a Sopranos episode.
I was feeling defeated and a little sad.
But then I received an email. Granted it has nothing to do with this client, however it was amazing news. For the Circle of Care project my team and I are completing in July, Bob’s Furniture store is donating the bed, mattress and nightstands for our project. Total cost would have been over $2,400. Our budget is $3,500-$4,000, so you can understand how incredible this is. This is the bed she chose, texted me pictures of and was so excited, saying it is “perfect”.
She was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer about 2 years ago, when she was 15 years old. It started with a tumor in her leg, which was removed. Unfortunately, the cancer returned, this time as a tumor on her lung. She is currently undergoing immunotherapy to try to shrink the tumor. Life expectancy for children with this form of cancer in 10 years is 10-40%. Which means she has a 10-40% chance of living past the age of 25. You wouldn’t know it if you met her. She is strong and optimistic. She is getting ready to graduate from high school next month and will be attending college (while living at home and continuing her treatment) to study nursing. Her goal is to work in the pediatric oncology unit. Giving her the bedroom of her dreams is so important to me.
Needless to say, this helped me forget my troubles and focus on the positive.
Have a wonderful day
