Applying for a VA Loan during a government shutdown?

You may still be able to move forward.

✔ VA loans remain eligible—even if a furlough happens after closing.

✔ Furloughs don’t count as gaps if you return to the same job.

✔ Most loans can proceed even if tax transcripts are delayed.

📊 Mortgage Mondays: Credit score ≠ gatekeeper.

This chart shows originations happen across every score band—not just 760+. Big spikes at the far right were refi waves, but even in today’s purchase-led market there’s steady activity in the 620–719 range, too.

Takeaway: Buyers aren’t only their score. Program fit, DTI, down payment, and reserves all matter. Agents, reframe the convo from “What score do I need?” to “What plan fits my budget and timeline?” 🛣️
