The Board of Directors and the staff surprised me today at their meeting. I was presented with an award for 30 years of service. All I could say was that it has been a pleasure and honor to serve.

This month starts my 30th year with PWSD #3. Pat Dunivin called me and said the Board offered me the job to see the system built and to run it. We finished construction in Spring of 1996 with 50 miles of mains and 90 customers. It has been a humbling and pleasurable experience. A wise man once defined my position by saying "the District has one job and your job is to see the THE job gets done" I have been blessed by having the best crew, best bosses and the best customers you could ask for. Thank you all. Now back to work....

Tips to prevent freezing pipes in Winter Weather. (copied from MoPERM newsletter)

Insulate Exposed ppes
Exposed pipes in unheated areas like attics, basements and crawl spaces are more susceptible to freezing.

Keep interior temperature consistent.
Make sure your thermostat is set to a temperature that keeps your pipes warm. Consistency is the key.

Leave faucets dripping
Moving water is harder to freeze, so letting faucets drip can keep your pipes flowing and prevent them from freezing.

Properly seal cracks and openings
Check out spots like windows, doors, and where pipes enter your building for air leaks.

Disconnect outdoor hoses, drain water, and insulate exposed pipes outdoors.
