For those of you that have received a notice regarding additional premium for your Part B and PDP plans, let me know. There is an option to remove or reduce that "surcharge" based on your circumstances. I'd love to advise you :)

Good to know! Happy to share

Sharing this post from a friend….I have attended CPR classes over the years, but was never told this particular scenario. I was told that when your body starts sweating profusely for no apparent reason followed by what feels like a spasm at the end of your esophagus, that is your body’s warning sign.

When you are alone and have a heart attack, what are you gonna do? A really good post that can't be shared often enough:

1. Take a 2 minute break and read this:
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.

2. You are really tired and frustrated.
All of a sudden your experience chest pains. They are starting to radiate in the arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.

3. Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..

4. Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.

5. How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.

6. But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.

7. Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. That’s how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment.

8. Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.

9. FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. Rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often have indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.

Instead of posting jokes, you're helping save lives by spreading this message.

As I have been getting this question a lot lately...Just a quick post about the different options for Medicare recipients.

Original Medicare includes Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance). Most clients pay a monthly premium for Part B (2026 is $203), along with deductibles, coinsurance and possible "excess charges" which can lead to higher out-of-pocket expenses without supplemental (Medigap) coverage.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap) complements Original Medicare by covering out-of-pocket costs like copayments, coinsurance, deductibles and excess charges. Clients pay a monthly premium but may see any doctor nationwide who accepts Medicare without network restrictions. The clients who choose this option have the flexibility to see any doctor nationwide who accepts Original Medicare. Medigap plans do not cover RX medications (stand alone PDP plans are required for medication help as well as to avoid the LEP (late entrant penalty) Nor do they cover additional services like dental, vision, or hearing; separate plans can be added to offset costs. .Some supplement plans do have SilverSneakers benefits. This option works best for clients who want to minimize out-of-pocket costs, and value flexibility in choosing providers.

Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies and have benefits under Medicare A & B rolled into the plan. Most cover Part D (prescription drugs), many have a monthly $0 premium with copays for usage along the way. They DO come with network restrictions. While MAPD plans may have lower premiums, they may have higher initial out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare plus Medigap. Many MAPD plans offer extra benefits, such as dental, vision, hearing, and wellness programs, but clients typically need to use a network of doctors and hospitals.
This option is ideal for clients looking for lower up front costs
"pay as you go", extra benefits, and coordinated care within a network.

AND, of course, if you have any questions, please give us a call!

This is just a reminder that if you are currently enrolled in Anthem Extras Dental AND/OR Vision, they are currently "sundowning" their program, meaning NO new enrollees may enter. This is usually a sign that the plan itself will be discontinued in the coming year. Current clients: please keep an eye on your inboxes for an update about this.

If you are currently enrolled in an Anthem Extras policy, we encourage you to call our office at 757-345-2767 to book an appointment to discuss your options!

*Please ask to book an appointment with our Dental and Vision specialist, Isabella Zanoni.

The Social Security Administration has announced a 2.8% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for 2026. Beginning in January 2026, most beneficiaries will see a modest increase in their monthly benefit—about $56 more for the average retiree.
While this adjustment helps offset higher living costs, increases in Medicare premiums and health care expenses may still outpace income growth. Now is a good time for beneficiaries to review their Medicare coverage to ensure it continues to meet their needs and budget.

I received this email today. Happy to share. This is bad, folks!

Open enrollment for those enrolled in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) started this past Saturday, November 1. And many are experiencing sticker shock as ACA insurers are raising premiums for 2026 by an estimated 26%, according to Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF). And KFF estimates that if the ACA premium tax credits expire on December 31, 2025, people would see premium increases by about 114% on average.

Congress needs to act. Otherwise, millions of Americans face the possibility of losing their healthcare coverage due to these increased costs.

That’s why we need you! Please continue reaching out to your members of Congress, urging them to extend these tax credits.

Nobody should face the choice between affording their healthcare and their other basic needs, such as rent, food, or utilities.

Make your voice heard today by joining us in asking Congress to put patients first and extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits. On behalf of the PAN Foundation, thank you for advocating for improved healthcare access and affordability for all.
