This does not affect all clients on Anthem health plans. It will affect certain MAPD members however. Reach out with any questions, but we WILL be addressing this during Annual Election period to ensure you are on the best plan for 2027.
VCU Health will have different participation for certain
Anthem Medicare Advantage plans
Anthem and VCU Health have mutually agreed that VCU Health will be out of network for certain Anthem Medicare Advantage plans effective January 1, 2027.
For Anthem Medicare Advantage Dual-Special Needs Plans (HMO D-SNP and PPO D-SNP), VCU Health will remain in-network.
Beginning January 1, 2027, VCU Health hospitals and physicians will no longer participate in Anthem Medicare Advantage HMO-POS, HMO-POS C-SNP and PPO plan networks. Impacted members in these plans may continue to see their VCU Health provider through December 31, 2026.
Update: We will notify impacted members this week instead of in September, as previously communicated.
If members are receiving ongoing treatments, they may be able to receive coverage for this provider a little while longer. Members should contact Customer Service to discuss their options.
This situation does NOT impact Medicare Supplement plans. Medicare Supplement members may continue to see any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare patients.
