Understanding that Original Medicare only covers about 80% of approved medical costs is a surprise to many who are nearing retierment.

A Medicare Supplement Plan can help cover the remaining gaps and give you more predictable out‑of‑pocket costs.

šŸ’¬ Question for you. šŸ’¬

What’s been YOUR biggest frustration—or surprise—during Medicare Annual Enrollment Period?

A recent Georgetown study sat down with real Medicare Advantage enrollees—and their message was loud and clear:

Open Enrollment is way more confusing and overwhelming than it needs to be.

Here’s a few things they mentioned:

šŸ“¬ Too much marketing.
- People are buried in mail, calls, and ads—many misleading. Even when people are signed up they continue to be bombarded by marketing material.

šŸ“„ Important notices get lost.
- Many don’t even realize they received their Annual Notice of Change, this is mailed by your current carrier every year by Sept. 30.

šŸ’» The Plan Finder needs upgrades.
- Comparing plans feels clunky and frustrating. If you have used Medicare.gov you most likely feel this frustration.

šŸ§‘ā€šŸ’¼ Agents vary.
- Some are great…others don’t show all your options. This issue is becoming more real as carriers change their compensation...if an agent is not going to get paid, they may not be as likely to show you the option.

šŸ¤ SHIP counselors = unbiased.
- This has not always been me or my clients finding, but SHIP counselors are people too. Noone is perfect.

šŸ‘‰ Bottom line: People want Medicare to be simpler, clearer, and more trustworthy. Feel free to read the whole report attached and let me know your thoughts.

When my team or I am working with new clietns we are often asked...ā€œWhat’s the BEST Medicare option?ā€

If you’re turning 65, chances are you’ve asked this—or wanted to.

Here’s the truth:
šŸ‘‰ It’s a trick question. There is no universally ā€œbestā€ Medicare option.

And yes… I’m fully expecting the comments section to prove my point with some passionate opinions. šŸ˜„

The reality is simple:
The best option is the one that fits YOUR needs, lifestyle, budget, health, and preferences.

Not the one someone online insists is superior… and definitely not the one pushed by someone who knows nothing about your situation.

The key is understanding the pros and cons of both Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage plans—and then choosing what aligns with your personal goals.

That’s how you make an informed decision.

And I’m sure someone in the comments will still tell me why I’m wrong… but that’s okay. šŸ˜‰

Medicare is complicated. šŸ˜µā€ Understanding it starts with the basics.

šŸ¤“Knowing the alphabet soup of Medicare helps form a good foundation.

Part A helps cover inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facility care, hospice
care, and home health care.
Part B helps cover:
- Services from doctors and other health care providers
- Outpatient care
- Home health care
- Durable medical equipment (like wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and other
equipment)
- Many preventive services (like screenings, shots or vaccines, and yearly
ā€œWellnessā€ visits)
Part C Medicare Advantage is a Medicare-approved plan from a private company
that offers an alternative to Original Medicare for your health and drug coverage.
Part D helps cover the cost of prescription drugs (including many recommended shots or vaccines).

Two years ago, a new prescription drug law was signed into law, adding new benefits like a $35 cap on covered insulin and more vaccines covered at $0 out-of-pocket. Even more benefits are coming next year: a $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket costs for Medicare Part D-covered prescriptions and the option to spread your prescription payments across the calendar year. https://go.medicare.gov/3YuOOR2

With the 'less than expected' increase in payments next year to carriers, it makes sense for you to evaluate your coverages this year to be prepared for any changes coming.
