USD 511 Attica Public Schools kicked off the new school year with the ECK-cellence Award going to senior volleyball players, Libby Swingle & Carlene Loesch. There ladies were nominated by teacher Donna Richards for being 4-year members of the Lady Bulldog volleyball team.

Today, the Morton County Chamber of Commerce was proud to welcome Terra Orth Insurance, a Division of Eck Agency, with an official ribbon cutting ceremony!

Terra officially opened her office at 539 Morton Street on March 2nd, bringing personalized insurance services to Elkhart and the surrounding region. As an independent insurance agent licensed in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas, Terra offers coverage options for farms, homes, businesses, workers' compensation, and more.

What makes this business especially meaningful is Terra's journey back to the profession she loves. After nearly a decade in the insurance industry, life took an unexpected turn when she stepped away to focus on family and her battle with breast cancer. Through determination, faith, and the support of the team at Eck Agency, Terra found her way back to serving the community she has called home for more than 50 years.

Tonight, Eck Agency management and staff of our Attica office are overwhelmingly full of gratitude for Attica, Harper and Anthony Fire Depts for saving our office and the rest of the Main Street block from a devastating fire. Attica lost two buildings, and one of the most historic buildings in our town, so we are very saddened by that loss. Thank you to Harper and Anthony for the ladder trucks, Farmers Oil for the water truck and Harper County Road and Bridge operators for their quick response and excellent job knocking down and keeping the fire contained. It has been hours and will likely be several more for our local dept. We are all reminded what wonderful work you do, so truly, Thank You all from the bottom of our hearts!

The final ECK-cellence Award for USD 511 Attica Public Schools goes out to Miss Evie Wadel and Miss Mackenzie Westerman!

Both of these young ladies were nominated by classroom teacher, Annie Ge**er. Mrs Ge**er stated for Evie, that she is always going above and beyond with impeccable character and compassion and Mackenzie, for her personal growth of confidence and maturity.

A belated congratulations for USD 511 Attica Public Schools ECK-cellence Award winner for the week of May 1st goes to Grayson Ybarra!

He was nominated by Bryan Hilgemann for his hard work in the classroom and slowly getting better in track, especially in the shot put. He stated Grayson's progress has been a blessing to see and his committment to stay with it shows his character. He is a great young man and has a quiet strength that can go overlooked. He is smart and willingly helps his classmates and is a great friend.

Kudos to you, Grayson! He was also spotted on Saturday volunteering or AHS's 118th Annual Alumni Banquet as a server.😉

We're proud to announce Eliza Loesch as this week's ECK-cellence Award recipient who was nominated by Meghan Livingston. Eliza's outstanding work during Community Clean-Up Day demonstrated the power of individual contributions to create positive change. She pulled weeds and trimmed branches without having to be asked or reminded. She also took the initiative to clean the ladies restroom. Eliza's hard work doesn't go unnoticed, and it is very much appreciated.

Nominated by 5th Grade teacher Annie Ge**er, she shared that her whole class was deserving of recognition after the students took it upon themselves to clean up the bleachers—without being asked.

Help us celebrate this week’s ECK‑cellence Award winner for the week of April 10th — Dax Ricke from USD 511 Attica Public Schools.

Principal Wyatt Williams nominated Dax after an incredible showing at the Chaparral Track Meet. Dax shattered two junior high school records in Triple Jump (39'7") and High Jump (6') and also helped the 4x100 Relay team bring home a new school record with Braxton Swonger, Henry Swingle and Cade McDaniel.
