As Tax Day approaches, we’d like to share a few friendly reminders that can make the filing process a little easier this year.
– Your tax documents may include several items, and it’s normal for them to arrive at different times.
– Schwab or LPL may issue revised tax forms. We suggest waiting to file until you have the final documents.
– You can access your tax documents through the Gentry client portal, or directly from Schwab or LPL.

Good news for big savers: 2026 retirement plans have higher contribution limits than before.

→ 401(k), 403(b), 457, and TSP: $24,500 limit (higher for certain participants)
→ IRA: $7,500 limit ($1,100 catch-up limit if you’re 50 or older)
→ Roth IRA and Saver’s Credit: Higher income phase-out ranges to help maximize savings
→ SIMPLE accounts: $17,000 limit (higher for certain participants)
→ Medicare Part B: $202.90 standard monthly premium

Remember: Most retirement accounts require distributions starting at age 73 (Roth IRAs are an exception). Early withdrawals before 59½ may incur penalties, and Roth IRAs require a 5-year holding period.

Recent tax legislation under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) may have a bigger impact than you thought, even for clients who have accumulated significant wealth. A thoughtful review of your financial plan can help ensure you make the most of new and extended provisions under the current law.
Here are some areas to explore:
- Tax rate extensions and their potential impact on your retirement and investment strategy
- Child-related credits, if relevant for families with dependents
- No tax on tips and overtime depending on your income, plus additional credits
- Bonus deductions for clients 65 and over
- Other line-item deductions worth reviewing, such as new-car loan interest and SALT increase

Even small changes can create planning opportunities and contribute to greater tax savings. Take advantage of experienced, personalized guidance from a Gentry advisor.
