The ACA Marketplace isnā€™t standing stillā€”and neither should consumers.

Multiple insurers are exiting ACA Marketplaces for 2027, including carriers in Texas and Oklahoma. Current 2026 coverage is not affected, but the bigger story is hard to ignore:

The individual ACA market remains volatile.

Carriers enter. Carriers exit. Plan choices change. Networks change. Costs change. And the plan that works today may not even be available tomorrow.

Thatā€™s why simply hitting ā€œrenewā€ year after year isnā€™t enough. Pay attention. Ask questions. Review your options.

More than 4 million Texans selected ACA coverage for 2026, but by February, roughly 900,000 had not activated or maintained that coverage. At the same time, average monthly premiums after subsidies rose for Texans receiving tax credits.

The takeaway? Selecting a plan is only the first step. Affordabilityā€”and keeping coverage activeā€”matters.
