Mortgage rates rose in the past week due to a red-hot inflation report contrary to many economic forecasts. The truth is jobs and inflation bear no indication of a rate drop, but rather consistent rate hikes in the imminent future. Our rates remain lower than banks, which at the end of last week, 30-year fixed rates rose to 6.77% from 6.64% the week before. In addition, 15-year loans increased to 6.12%. A year ago, 30-year fixed rates averaged 6.32%, approximately 0.50% lower than today. Mortgage applications remain lower in 2024. Our low rates continue to be more and more important.
