Here's a Medicare number that's changing for 2027:
$2,400.
That's the new annual out-of-pocket threshold for covered Part D prescription drugs, up from $2,100 in 2026.
So...what does that actually mean for you?
If you take expensive medications and your out-of-pocket spending on covered Part D drugs reaches that threshold, you move into catastrophic coverage and don't pay additional cost sharing for covered Part D drugs for the rest of the year.
But here's the part I really want you to know:
This doesn't mean everyone with Medicare is going to spend $2,400 on prescriptions next year.
Your actual costs depend on your medications, your plan, where you fill your prescriptions, and other factors.
And THAT'S why your prescription list is such an important part of reviewing your coverage.
Don't just look at the plan premium. Let's look at what YOUR medications could actually cost you.
