Sometimes the things we hope we never need end up being the things we're most thankful we prepared for.
Recently, my son Garrett married Amy, and as the wedding weekend approached, the weather forecast seemed to change every few hours. They had planned to have their rehearsal dinner outside, but with rain in the forecast, my wife and I spent a lot of time preparing an indoor backup space just in case.
As it turned out, the weather was beautiful, and everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening under the stars.
After all that work, it would have been easy to say, "Well, I guess we didn't need to do all that." But that's exactly what insurance reminds me of.
People sometimes feel like they've "wasted" money on insurance because they went years without needing it. The truth is, you haven't wasted anything. You've had the peace of mind of knowing you were prepared if something unexpected happened.
Just because you don't end up needing your backup plan doesn't mean it wasn't worth having.
That's true for weddings, and it's true for insurance too.
